Mercedes-Benz Vito Features

Developed for users who are looking for 100% commitment, the Vito delivers versatality, comfort and dependable quality. Whether front-wheel or rear-wheel drive - you can be confident you're choosing the best vehicle for your business. One thing is certain: your new Vito will be ready for anything.

Variants & Versatility

By giving you the option of choosing between two drive system variants, we have made the Vito the first van in its class to be tailored to your needs, offering both front-wheel or rear-wheel drive.

The standard 6-speed manual transmission[1] is also designed to ensure an optimum balance between performance and consumption. Whichever drive variant you choose, its comfortable chassis set-up and independent suspension mean the Vito will keep you going where others can’t.

Variants & Versatility

The Vito offers all the space you need and more. With three vehicle lengths and two wheelbases, there are plenty of options when it comes to adding individual and specialist features to make it the perfect fit for your needs.

Whether your day involves transporting people, cargo or both, no two jobs are the same. That's when the Vito Crew Cab can be the ultimate choice. With comfortable access and adaptable seating for up to six, it combines both functionality and comfort.

Load capacity and fuel efficiency

Load Capacity

The Vito Panel Van is designed as a professional vehicle for demanding jobs. Specifically built for loading cargo, it has a load compartment length of up to 3061 mm and can transport up to 1285 kg.

As if that were not impressive enough, the Vito can give your profits a boost as well as the environment, thanks to fuel efficient engines and innovative BlueEFFICIENCY technologies. Together they achieve outstanding emissions figures saving up to 30% fuel, with a figure as low as 6.0L per 100km.*

Drive system

Drive System

The two 4-cylinder diesel engines with common-rail direct injection and turbocharging form the heart of the Vito’s economical and sustainable power. The 1598 cc engine is available in one output rating and the 2143 cc in three. Depending on the engine variant, there is a choice between front-wheel and rearwheel systems.

The variant powered by the 140 kW engine is the most powerful and consumes around 2.7 litres per 100 km less than a comparable variant of the previous model series, at the same torque level. Thanks to BlueTEC technology, it also complies with the demanding Euro 6 emissions standard.

ECO Start / Stop

The Vito is very economical, with numerous in-house individual measures. The ECO start/stop function helps to reduce your vehicle's fuel consumption and emissions by switching the engine off when stopped and starting it again when pulling away. Both operations take place automatically.

The ECO symbol lit up in green in the instrument cluster shows the ECO start/stop function's operational readiness. The function can be switched on or off whilst the vehicle is in motion by pressing the ECO button.

ESP stands for Electronic Stability Program. The Mercedes-Benz ADAPTIVE ESP® is designed to assist the driver in maintaining control of the vehicle and intervene automatically when the vehicle detects a potential issue.

Where cars usually carry similar loads, the load in a van is always altering. ADAPTIVE ESP® adapts to the load continually, moving with the centre of gravity as loads vary and adjusts to the specific load that is being carried. This system automatically detects when the vehicle is understeering or oversteering and intervenes to assist the driver to maintain control.

Airbags & Seatbelts

In a collision, belt tensioners instantly take all slack out of the belts and enhance passive safety in the event of an accident.

Optional thorax-pelvis side bags^ in the front offer additional protection. When fitted, these deploy on the impact side in severe side collisions. Housed in the seat backrests, thorax bags are designed to provide increased side protection for the thorax of the seat occupant.

Passenger Cell

Beneath the dynamic and stylish shape, things get serious. When it comes to safety, there's no such thing as too much. Especially for those whose livelihood depends on the road. Our commercial vehicles are built around a high standard of occupant protection.

The front section of the body comprises two deformation boxes welded to the longitudinal support beams. This ensures that maximum energy is absorbed during a frontal collision. Other crash scenarios optimised during the development phase, such as side and rear-end collisions, underline the Vito's exemplary safety standards.

Blind Spot Assist

Blind Spot Assist supports you when changing lanes and can warn you if a danger of collision is detected. The system detects vehicles in the blind spot in an area of three metres around the vehicle. If it detects a vehicle in the blind spot, you are made aware of this by a red triangle in the exterior mirror. If you use the turn signal for a lane change despite this visual warning, a warning tone is also triggered. Blind Spot Assist comes into operation from speeds of approximately 30 km/h. When you drive at speeds of under 30 km/h, a yellow triangle indicates that the system is inactive.

[1] Standard on all 111 and 114 models.
*The declared fuel consumption figures are determined by testing under standardised laboratory conditions to comply with ADR 81/02. Real world fuel consumption is influenced by many additional factors such as individual driving style, load, traffic and vehicle condition. The declared fuel consumption figure should only be used for the purpose of comparison amongst vehicles.

The safety systems described on this website have been developed to enhance active safety and help van drivers devote their full attention to the situation on the road. Despite their capabilities, these innovative assistance systems cannot defy the laws of physics and do not absolve the driver of the duty to drive safely
